“I ain’t doing my duty
by that boy, and that’s the Lord’s truth, goodness knows. Spare the rod and
spile the child, as the Good Book says. I’m a-laying up sin and suffering for
us both, I know. He’s full of the Old Scratch, but laws-a-me! He’s my own dead
sister’s boy, poor thing, and I ain’t got the heart to lash him, somehow. Every
time I let him off, my conscience does hurt me so, and every time I hit him my
old heart most breaks.”
-The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Tom’s Aunt is saying
that Tom is a typical young boy who like every other child must be disciplined
for the wrong that he does. However she feels it’s different, because she is
very sympathetic for Tom after the loss of his mother. So every time she has to
discipline Tom it breaks her heart and she feels that she shouldn’t have done
it.

"The Adventures of Tom Saywer" by Mark Twain, has been banned from different groups. One group was like different schools. They banned the book because of the lanuage. It was controversial because they knew it only had a little bit of language and it kinda tought a tiny lesson. Thats why they banned the book.

In a story the author tries to tell the story to really teach a lesson. It may be banned but still can teach you a lesson. Yet there are many other things that make this book teach a lesson which the author is trying to covey.
In the " Adventures of Tom Sawyer" the author tries to convey a message. The message shows that it would be like religious. "There was a rustling of dresses and the standing Congregation sat down. The boy whose his this tay this book relates did not enjoy the prayer he only endured it-if he even did that much." ( page 593 of 3271 ) This message shows that this book doesn't need to be banned. It's just showing that his history only relates a little to his gods life.

In the story "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" the author tried to convey a message about something like shame it sounds like to me. It says "Tom was tugging at a bottom-hole and looking sheepish. He blushed now and his eyes fell. Mr. Walters heart sank within him." (page 554 of 3271 ) This passage shows that this story shouldn't be banned. Reason being is because there is nothing wrong here. All it shows is that you wouldn't ever fell shamefully.

A controversial passage is a passage that shows a conflict between
two or more things. But it is just not a conflict but its basically an opinion on
something that happened or was said. You could really find an controversial passage
anywhere you look. It could be things that are being said or has been said or may
have been brought up. In the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” there were a ton
of examples of a controversial passage.
So here are
just a few of examples of an controversial passage. One would be, “And above it
all the great man sat and beamed a majestic judicial smile upon all the house, and
warmed himself in the sun of his own grandeur-for he was “showing off,” too.” (524
of 3271 on the kindle) To me this really shows that a controversial passage could
be between your self, like this one for example.

There are some controversial passages
in the story ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.’ But what is a controversial passage
in the first place you may ask? Well it is a passage that has two sides to a story.
Like for example, when something is said or happens, there maybe two sides to the
story when for example if a parent says something that he/she thinks is correct
and the child disagrees. In ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” there were a lot of
controversial passages.
So in this book
Tom gets in trouble a lot or at least just stays in trouble. “Never you mind, Tom.
You know if I say it’s nice, it’s nice.”(435 of 3271 on the kindle) This is a controversial
passage because Tom and Mary have different opinions on the tackle, Mary says
its nice yet Tom says it’s not nice. “The visitors wee given the highest seat of
honor, and as soon as Mr. Walters’ speech was finished, he introduced them to the
school.”(509 of 3271 on the kindle) The reason why this is a controversial passage
because it was visitors against the already members.
